Nowadays there are quite a few modern programming languages which are object-oriented, such as Python and Julia, appropriate for scientific and numerical computing with performance comparable to traditional statically-typed languages. Besides learning the features of the language, students will be trained to write programs that can be applied to atmospheric and oceanic sciences problems.
